AMS writes that Subaru will bring the finished, production ready, STI version of the BRZ to this years L.A. Auto Show. While the concept they showed in 2012 had the regular 200hp engine, the real STI is supposed to have 230 horsies that breath on their own without some sort of forced induction. Also lower suspension, 18 inch wheels and Brembo brakes.

230?
I get that the point of the little twinkies isn't entirely about power, but all they're going to add here is 30HP and some suspension bits? At $25k, 200 HP is acceptable, but if I'm spending $30k+ on a sports car, I'd like more power than I can get in a Kia Sportage.

I wonder if this was the testbed of what we'll in LA?

Yeah I'm with you on this one. The extra cost is not going to be worth what you could accomplish with a cold air intake and new exhaust system. I was hoping for a shiny new supercharger :(

At about 30k I would want 20 more horses and 40 more torques... I was contemplating getting a brz but I would rather just pick up a used sti and save over 10k.

My guess is that Subaru marketing said no turbo/supercharger, as that gets uncomfortably close to the halo WRX and starts to cannibalize sales.

If it doesn't have a turbo and doesn't have over 250hp, then Subaru missed their mark. This car NEEDS to have a bigger out of the box potential than the base model. Simply tweaking intake and exhaust setups and such to get 30hp isn't gonna cut it.

Nope. It's just a normally aspirated race setup with smaller wheels. It was featured at the 2013 Tokyo Auto Show.
